After the dot-com boom, search results started getting tracked on the Internet and interpreted in different ways. Whether It was the packages from Amazon to be delivered at your doorstep or the concept of wearing Fitbit or any other fitness band to track your health activities; everything was being tracked.
It could be what you view or browse on the internet or for that matter shop online or just use any type of CMS or business tool, invariably you see ads popping up the moment you close your tab. Every one wants to monetize their sales by re-targeting its existing users in the form of ads on their mobile devices or desktop. So how do you get those ads on your favorite devices? Sometimes even if you want to get rid of those ads it gets difficult. For a layman who doesn’t understand tech to get rid of nasty ads can be quite a task.
I know how scary it May seem that whatever we do online is being tracked in one form or another. This applies to the extent that if you upload your image on any of the social media platforms and then try removing it from that website it does not work in a full proof way. It shows you that it has been successfully deleted and you cannot access it, but it is stored somewhere on the cloud server.
You find it hard to believe me right? Let me give you an interesting example from when I started browsing in early 2000s. Yahoo.com was the famous portal to stay connected, searching any content or checking our emails. We used to love the homepage of yahoo.com, how the things were organized and made so easily available to access everything in one click. Over the years things on the internet have changed significantly and the content has been replaced with newer and better things or it has been removed completely. Everyone has seen the latest yahoo homepage this is how it looks currently –
But log on to “Internet Archive: Wayback Machine” to see how it looked 15-20 years back(see screenshot attached below)
So the point is, the old homepage was replaced by the new one long time back, but it is still archived by some third party website, you can still visit the above link and see how it used to look at that point of time. Once you are on cloud or internet you are being watched or tracked.
I would say virtually every one is getting tracked in one or another form, whether it might be a kid who is playing outside the house is being watched by their parents for the safety or when you try to jump the signal while driving the car or when you are working at your office. Everyone is being tracked by others for a different reason. Their intention is pretty clear to collect as much information as possible from various sources. Then reverse-engineer that information and figure out, what factors were responsible for generating that business/cause, from start to finish and respectively to get more out of it or avoid completely.
I would say virtually every one is being tracked. Whether it means keeping an eye out for your kid who’s playing outside without your guidance or whether you try to jump the signal while driving the car or when you are working at your office. Everyone is being tracked by others for a different reason. Their intention is pretty clear; to collect as much information as possible from various sources. Then reverse-engineer that information and figure out, what factors were responsible for generating that business/cause, from start to finish and respectively to get more out of it or completely ignore it.
